The Xiaomi 17 Ultra focuses on imaging breakthroughs, featuring a 1-inch Light Hunter main camera, a 200MP telephoto lens, and a Leica triple-camera system. Combined with LOFIC technology, it delivers clean and balanced night photography with excellent light and shadow control. Inside its slim 8.29mm body is a 6800mAh battery, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and dual-channel cooling system ensure flagship-level performance. The Starry Green rear cover, inspired by mineral stardust textures, conveys a refined and premium aesthetic.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra series has been on the market for some time now, and many users who like it have likely already purchased one—especially the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, which once received strong market feedback. However, from a purely practical standpoint, I personally recommend the standard Xiaomi 17 Ultra. There’s really no need to overthink it; keeping things simple is enough.

This phone is available in four color options: Black, White, Starry Green, and Cool Smoke Purple. Xiaomi officially promotes Starry Green the most, which is understandable given its unique manufacturing process. The entire rear cover is filled with starlike dots, making it look extremely cool. Judging from real-device photos, the flat display combined with the mineral-inspired granular texture creates a premium look and feel. If the frame could maintain the same level of craftsmanship, it would be close to perfect.

As for hardware, there is little to criticize. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 flagship processor is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage, forming a top-tier flagship configuration. Cooling is handled by a dual-channel 3D loop vapor chamber, which should provide solid thermal performance. That said, since it’s currently winter, it remains to be seen whether performance stays equally strong during hot summer conditions.

While I don’t entirely understand why almost every manufacturer emphasizes imaging so heavily in their Ultra models, I respect the approach. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra follows the same path.

Beyond still photography, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra has also improved its video recording capabilities, particularly in high-dynamic night video. It supports full focal-length 8K video recording, multi-focal 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video, and ACES LOG cinematic-grade video creation. On the practical side, it also offers AI-powered audio creation to meet personalized audio and video editing needs—bringing it closer to the iPhone’s creative workflow.

Now let’s talk about the 200MP 75mm–100mm telephoto lens. While the sample images may not be fully representative, the core advantage of 200MP is creative freedom. You can shoot without worrying too much about composition, lighting, or background, then crop afterward and still retain excellent clarity and image quality. The confidence that 200MP delivers is simple: shoot freely and create without restraint.

In addition, this 200MP telephoto lens is marketed as having “main-camera-level” capabilities. Built on a 28nm process with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor, its light-gathering ability rivals that of a traditional large-sensor main camera. When used across the four classic portrait focal lengths, it delivers stunning results. Combined with Master Portrait mode, it ensures high portrait completion—hair-level edge detection and vivid, realistic rendering are clearly visible.

Although the Xiaomi 17 Ultra does not dramatically upgrade Live Photos this time, it introduces zoom and slow-motion features that enable more dynamic camera movement.
