VIVO X300 Review : Slim Flagship with 200MP Camera and Strong Value
In the flagship smartphone market of the second half of the year, an interesting trend has emerged: battery capacity competition has become more intense, with models like Xiaomi 17, Honor Magic8, and OPPO Find X9 all surpassing the 7000mAh mark. In this battery race, the vivo X300, released on October 13, stands out for its uniqueness, as its 6040mAh battery is indeed not impressive compared with competitors.
This difference directly affects its market performance, and to improve competitiveness, vivo had to adjust its strategy. The new flagship has dropped in price from 4399 RMB to 3959 RMB, and vivo also includes Bluetooth earphones worth 299 RMB, equivalent to an indirect discount of nearly 700 RMB. In the highly competitive high-end market, such a price adjustment undoubtedly improves its value for money.
The battery choice of the vivo X300 is not accidental but a natural outcome of its product positioning. Within the limited internal space, vivo prioritizes the imaging system, which means some compromise on battery capacity is inevitable.
This phone is the only standard flagship this year equipped with a 200MP main camera. Its massive imaging module naturally occupies more internal space. In contrast, although competitors offer larger batteries, they often make concessions in camera hardware.
Lightweight design is another clear direction for the vivo X300. Its 7.95mm thickness and 190g weight make it refreshing among today’s flagship phones. Compared with brick-like competitors, it is far more comfortable to carry and use. This design philosophy is clearly aimed at users who value ergonomics and portability.
Setting battery aside, the vivo X300’s imaging system is indeed impressive. The 200MP Zeiss main camera comes with a 1/1.4-inch large sensor, CIPA 4.5-level stabilization, and Zeiss coating, forming a strong imaging foundation.
Its lens configuration is quite comprehensive, with a 50MP periscope telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens covering most everyday focal lengths. Such hardware is uncommon in standard flagship versions and is usually seen only in Pro models.
The front camera is also outstanding, with a 50MP resolution that meets the demands of high-quality selfies and video calls. From the overall imaging setup, the vivo X300 clearly aims at users with high photography requirements.
The vivo X300 features a compact 6.31-inch flat display with ultra-narrow 1.05mm bezels on all four sides, resulting in excellent screen-to-body ratio. The metal frame has slightly curved edges, enhancing grip comfort.
In actual use, the device offers better hand-feel than many similar products. It can be held comfortably in one hand, operates effortlessly, and does not feel top-heavy. For users tired of half-pound smartphones, this refined feel is highly appealing.
The display quality remains flagship-level, with excellent color reproduction, brightness, and smoothness. Although smaller in size, the viewing experience is uncompromised, delivering comfort in daily use and entertainment.
In terms of core performance, the vivo X300 is powered by the Dimensity 9500 processor, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage—forming a strong performance trio. Although slightly weaker than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite Edition, it easily handles mainstream apps and games.
The addition of the BlueImage V3+ chip further boosts image processing capabilities, enabling complex algorithms to run in real time. This software-hardware synergy keeps the vivo X300 highly competitive in imaging.
Other features are also comprehensive: fast and accurate 3D ultrasonic fingerprint 2.0, NFC, IR remote control, dual speakers, IP69 waterproofing, and more. Four WiFi enhancement chips ensure stable connectivity, improving gaming and video streaming experiences.
Although not as large as competitors’, the 6040mAh battery is not limiting in real use. For most users, it easily supports a full day of moderate usage.
The combination of 90W wired charging and 40W wireless charging offers a solid recharging experience. Especially the 90W fast charging can quickly restore a large amount of power in a short time, easing battery anxiety.
If you are not an extremely heavy user, the vivo X300’s battery life fully meets daily needs. Only continuous gaming or long-duration video recording reveals a noticeable gap compared with 7000mAh models.
After its price drop, the vivo X300 offers greater value for money, especially with its strong imaging system and excellent ergonomics. If you value photography and portability, the vivo X300 at 3959 RMB is undoubtedly worth considering.
