OPPO Find X8 Ultra Review: Performance, Battery, and Smart Features
What Should an “Ultra” Phone Truly Be?
When we think of past “Ultra” smartphones, what comes to mind is usually bulky bodies, protruding cameras, and designs that try hard to mimic DSLRs. But is that really the right direction? If we reflect on how we use our phones, it becomes clear: photography, while important, doesn’t dominate our daily usage. Sacrificing everyday convenience for occasional photography feels like missing the forest for the trees.
That’s why, upon seeing the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, the first reaction is—“They got the direction right.” Backed by advanced technology, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra not only retains and enhances its dual periscope quad-camera system but also manages to slim down and confidently adopt a flat display. So, how does it actually perform in daily use? Let’s take a closer look.

1. Design: A Unique Flat Display That Stands Apart
For the first time in the Ultra series, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra adopts a flat display. This may seem conservative, but it’s actually a precise insight into user experience. Compared to the curved screen of the Find X7 Ultra, the new 6.82-inch 2K flat display (3168×1440 resolution) appears more robust and angular. With uniform narrow bezels reduced to just 1.4mm, it achieves an impressive 94.3% screen-to-body ratio, delivering full visual immersion.
The phone is only 8.78mm thick and weighs under 230g. Combined with an aerospace-grade aluminum frame and AG frosted glass back, it offers both the cool feel of metal and the smooth warmth of glass—resistant to fingerprints even during long use.
In terms of details, a new physical shortcut key has been added to the left frame. In addition to the classic three-position switch (ring/vibrate/silent), it supports custom functions like quick-launching the camera or voice recorder, enhancing both practicality and efficiency.
The rear camera module features a circular Deco design with Hasselblad’s signature “H” in the center. The four cameras and the Danxia True Color sensor are symmetrically arranged, with focal lengths and aperture values etched into the metallic ring—showcasing a professional imaging identity without overwhelming the design.
As for colors, the Find X8 Ultra is available in Moonlight White, Starry Black, and Dawn Glow, all featuring low-saturation tones. "Moonlight White" gives off a subtle golden shimmer, complementing the warm-tone metallic frame for an elegant, premium aesthetic.

2. Imaging: Capturing the Truth in Every Ray of Light
Photography is the core strength of the Find X8 Ultra. Let’s first look at the hardware: a quad-camera setup including Sony’s LYT900 1-inch main sensor, a 3x periscope telephoto (LYT700), a 6x periscope telephoto (LYT600), and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens—covering a 15mm to 135mm focal range with superb optical quality.
However, allow me to be bold here: that’s not what truly matters. The real breakthrough lies in how OPPO reimagines capturing light.
Photography is, after all, the art of light. But light is more complex than it seems. Take color, for example—reproducing it as realistically as possible has always been a challenge. OPPO’s solution lies in the seemingly modest fifth lens in the rear module: the all-new Danxia True Color lens.
This lens is a full-fledged camera module with its own CMOS sensor, optical filter, and lens assembly. It can independently perceive both the subject and the environment. More impressively, it features regional sensing capabilities that generate a finely-gridded color temperature map, enabling the camera to accurately understand and reproduce colors across different areas of the scene.
In real-world photography, this means that the OPPO Find X8 Ultra can accurately differentiate and render various light sources—even in complex night scenes—showing true-to-life skin tones and backgrounds, instead of rendering everything in a flat, uniform hue.
To enhance color accuracy further, OPPO upgraded its HDR system. The new ProXDR with RGB 3D Photon Matrix technology allows each photon to carry red, green, and blue channel data. This enables accurate brightness and color information capture for every light source and reflection.
This RGB matrix is embedded at the very start of the image processing pipeline. The original high dynamic brightness and color data are processed via OPPO’s custom HDR pipeline (4x bandwidth and 4x data), displayed on HDR screens with up to 8x brightness stimulation and 64x more color data—delivering an unprecedented sense of depth and clarity, especially in low-light portraits.
Portrait photography gets even better. With two large-scale AI models, the Find X8 Ultra can distinguish spatial distances down to 10 meters and finer details down to millimeters—precisely replicating natural depth-of-field effects. Hair separation is particularly impressive: it performs an extra comparison and refinement step to fix any mis-blurred strands, making portrait shots crisp and well-defined.
Of course, it also excels in landscape photography. It reproduces ambient color and lighting with remarkable fidelity. In backlit scenes, it avoids both overly brightening the shadows and losing detail in dark areas, choosing instead a natural light balance—even at the cost of extreme highlights or shadows.
If one word could describe the Find X8 Ultra’s photography style, it would be authentic. Authentic doesn't mean unedited—it means respectful of reality. It avoids excessive brightening or sharpening, retaining natural light relationships and delivering beautifully nuanced images in an era dominated by digital over-processing.

3. Performance: Flagship Power with Confidence
Beyond imaging, performance is another major strength. The OPPO Find X8 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Edition chipset—Qualcomm’s first SoC using its in-house architecture. It features six high-performance OryonL cores up to 3.5GHz and two ultra cores reaching over 4GHz—impressive on paper alone. The GPU is the new Adreno 830, with 12 compute units at 1100MHz—again, an exceptional spec. Built on TSMC's second-gen 3nm process, it brings improved power efficiency.
Memory and storage are also top-tier: LPDDR5X RAM + UFS 4.0 storage, forming a performance “iron triangle.” So how does this translate in benchmarks?
In AnTuTu, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra scores 2.86 million, with the GPU alone reaching 1.23 million—enough to handle the most demanding mobile games with ease. On 3D Mark’s Wild Life Extreme test, it scores 6737, a clear improvement over the previous generation.
But real-world performance matters more than numbers. To test actual gaming capability, we ran Honkai: Star Rail on high graphics at 60 FPS. In a 15-minute open-world segment, the Find X8 Ultra maintained an average of 59.8 FPS, showing remarkable stability.
Haptics are another highlight. The custom 0916T vibration motor offers 30% stronger feedback and 5ms start-stop response time. It simulates recoil in shooters and mimics mechanical keyboards while typing—rivaling dedicated gaming phones. Also worth mentioning is the 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, unlocking in just 0.2 seconds—even with wet fingers or under strong light. It also boasts IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, making the Find X8 Ultra exceptionally reliable.
Taking all this into account, it’s clear that the OPPO Find X8 Ultra’s performance is firmly in the flagship tier. Even for hardcore gamers, this phone delivers satisfaction on every level.

4. Experience: More Than Just a Bit Better
Beyond its performance, the Find X8 Ultra also shines in daily use, thanks to a series of upgrades brought by ColorOS 15. Let me walk you through the details.
First, OPPO’s voice assistant Xiaobu now integrates the DeepSeek large language model. If that doesn't sound impressive at first, imagine this: what if it could understand you? That's right—OPPO has enhanced DeepSeek with multimodal recognition capabilities. Whether it's documents or images, it can interpret them directly. For instance, if you give Xiaobu a photo taken in Guangzhou and ask for five outfit suggestions for traveling there, DeepSeek will analyze the image, perform web searches, and offer thoughtful recommendations. Thanks to OPPO’s dedicated server network, the experience is also more stable.
The original three-way mute switch from the Find series has now become a multifunctional shortcut key. With a single press, you can activate the all-new “AI Flash Notes” feature. This intelligently identifies, analyzes, and records on-screen content, saving the information into Xiaobu Memory. Xiaobu Memory then manages this information for you, smartly organizing and categorizing it so everything is automatically filed in its ideal location.
The well-received O+ Cross-Device Connectivity feature from the Find N5 is now available on the Find X8 Ultra as well. No matter how far apart your computer and phone are, as long as they are logged into the same OPPO account, you can instantly connect and remotely access your desktop. You can also control your computer screen directly from your phone. Once connected via O+, you can browse images and videos stored on your phone at high speed from your computer—no downloading needed. Conversely, your phone can search and access files on your computer, allowing you to quickly find what you need.
There are also some refined touches—for instance, when many notifications arrive, they’re automatically stacked for a cleaner look. The multitasking interface can now switch between stacked and tiled views. Desktop folders offer more layout sizes. While these changes may seem minor, they genuinely enhance the user experience for those who care about the details.
From practical stacked notifications to flexible task layouts, customizable desktop folders, powerful O+ connectivity, and a smarter DeepSeek assistant, the new ColorOS 15 on the Find X8 series brings a thoughtful wave of upgrades. These improvements not only boost system fluidity and interaction but also push the boundaries of cross-device collaboration between phone and computer. Judging by OPPO’s track record, it's highly likely these features will roll out to older models in upcoming updates.
5. Battery Life: Comprehensive and Powerful
Considering how slim and lightweight the OPPO Find X8 Ultra is, some might have doubts about its battery life. But thanks to new technology, OPPO has managed to strike a balance between thin design and a large battery. The Find X8 Ultra features a Glacier Battery with silicon-carbon anode technology, reaching an energy density of 830Wh/L. This allows it to pack a massive 6100mAh battery into its well-equipped body.
To thoroughly assess the battery life of the OPPO Find X8 Ultra, we conducted a series of rigorous tests, particularly the 5-hour heavy-use battery test by ZOL (Zhongguancun Online). This includes:
-
30 minutes of Asphalt gaming
-
90 minutes of streaming 720P video on iQiyi
-
60 minutes of browsing short videos on Douyin
-
30 minutes of scrolling through the Taobao feed
-
30 minutes of browsing Toutiao
-
15 minutes of photography + 15 minutes of video recording (1080P, 30fps)
-
30 minutes of listening to music on QQ Music
This test suite covers the most common daily usage scenarios.
According to ZOL’s 5-hour endurance model, the OPPO Find X8 Ultra still had 74% battery remaining at the end of the test—a remarkable result. This performance places it near the top of ZOL’s battery endurance leaderboard.
In addition to the large-capacity battery, the Find X8 Ultra supports long-lifespan 100W fast charging. Our tests show that it can charge from 1% to 94% in just 30 minutes—very impressive. For those who prefer a clutter-free desk, it also supports 50W wireless charging, offering even greater convenience.
From my daily use (about 7 hours of screen time per day), if I don’t play games, I can easily go two full days on a single charge. Among all the flagship devices I’ve used, this is unquestionably top-tier endurance.

6. Final Thoughts
